Enchanted (2007)

It’s been a long time since we last saw a movie blending the world of animation and real life action together. To my knowledge, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) was the last movie to do so. I was extremely psyched when I first heard about the Enchanted project back in 2001. Although I didn’t catch the theatrical release, I finally got to see it when Enchanted became available on iTunes rental service. Enchanted is as enchanting as I imagined it to be (poor pun, I apologize). Being a once-hardcore Disney fan, I enjoyed the movie on several different levels.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two installments of Spider-Man. The action sequences were intense, the plots were gripping, and these were backed by solid performances by the leading actors. I intended to watch Spider-Man 3 on the premiere night, but plans fell through and I never got a chance to see it until recently it became available on HD On Demand. It has been a year, and it’s finally time to take Spider-Man 3 off my “to-watch” list and move it into the MovRev vault. So how did this movie fare?

The Invisible (2007)

I have always wanted to watch this movie since I first saw the trailer. The premise is about this high school boy, Nick, found himself stuck in the limbo after being murdered. His spirits lingered between his home and his high school, and that he must solve the mystery of his death before his spirit can move on. Well, at least that is the premise the trailer tried to portray - a thriller mystery.

Ratatouille (2007)

Brad Bird strikes back again! With Giant Robot and The Incredibles under his belt, I had a fairly high expectation for his latest work - Ratatouille. Taking a sharp turn from the previous “larger-than-life” setups, this time around, he takes us on a trip to Paris, seeing the City of Good Food through the eyes of… a rat (no, not Mickey Mouse… Mickey is a giant mutated mouse. Here we’re talking about rats… those ones that live in a sewer… like some mutated turtles).

Transformers (2007)

Back in the 90s, moviegoers usually look forward to the summer blockbusters, and are generally blown away by those breath-taking visuals/intense actions/intricate plots (think Face/Off, The Rock, and, dare I say, Armageddon. Things have drastically changed since 2000. Sure we had Pirates, Mission Impossible, and the usual dosage of CGI summer flicks from Pixar and DreamWork or other comics/anime adaptations. As good as these movies are, they lack the final kick that wows you when the credits begin rolling, and keeps you talking/thinking about it days after you leave the theater. Michael Bay, despite his horrendous records after the 1998 Armageddon, finally brought back the wow factor in summer blockbusters with the Transformers
